I love finding powerful new Web 2.0 applications that can be used in the classroom. Dabbleboard is one such application and it works great on your SMART Board interactive whiteboard. (For those of you who played around with my Jog the Web track yesterday, you already know about Dabbleboard!)
Basically, Dabbleboard is an electronic whiteboard for your computer. It allows you to easily add shapes, text, images and other objects to a blank work area similar to Notebook.
Actually, many features of Dabbleboard are found in Notebook and I would never suggest replacing Notebook with Dabbleboard. However, Dabbleboard does something very cool. It allows you to collaborate and share drawings with other people in real time. This is a very powerful feature and hopefully one we'll find in Notebook sometime in the near future. In addition, since Dabbleboard is a web application, they can make it very easy to share and use other people's drawings.
I'll admit that I found some things easier to do using Dabbleboard compared to Notebook. However, I've also discovered that the people at Smart Technologies are always looking for new ideas to make their software more powerful.
Here's a video demonstration of Dabbleboard:
